We know the industry
Straight out of ENS Louis Lumière, Franck was head of operations at Mikros Image, then digital content producer. Then seven years at ManoMano. It was moving to Head of Customer Advice that made him realize what handling data at that scale changes in running a product, and a business.
With an engineering degree in image & sound, Cédric spent ten years all over the world advising film laboratories and VFX studios, as well as Autodesk, Sony, Technicolor and EFilm, on their workflows and color science, before joining the Ymagis/Eclair group. He leads innovation, HDR in cinema (EclairColor) and eGaming (EclairGames). Cédric is building a portfolio of 4 patents. Since 2008, he also teaches at UPHF/INSA Hauts-de-France.
We have always worked under NDA, at the level of confidentiality that studio productions require.
We have been through deep transitions, several of them, and what we put in place still runs
From 2006 to 2015, Cédric guided film laboratories through their transition to digital: network and storage infrastructure, color science, quality control. Before that, he had taken part in the world's first industrial digital cinema chain with Eclair Laboratoires, which he rejoined in 2015 in the Ymagis adventure. ACES then HDR: the industry gains color and industrializes its processes.
At Mikros, Franck accompanied the shift from film to digital, from 2002 to 2010: he created and deployed the workflows. Then, on the production side, from TV to digital, launching one of the first YouTube multi-channel networks in France as early as 2013.
In the early 2020s, Cédric leads the rebuild of Carbon'Clap, the industry's first environmental transition tool, still in production, now the reference calculator in France.
What we put in place survives our departure: Cédric's color workflows are still in use in the ACES era; the folder architecture Franck deployed at Mikros still serves a whole generation of editors, fifteen years later; and the content he produced ten years ago is still online, with over a million unique visitors a month.
Change is technical and human
Cédric led the film laboratories' transition to digital, the arrival of HDR, and the integration of environmental parameters into the industry.
At ManoMano too, Franck ran cross-functional projects for seven years, mobilizing up to 50 people across 10 teams, on a catalog of over 15 million products.
The new transition is the industrialization and automation of premium content. One more transition, and data is at its center.
We think about data before we tool it
HOLLI is the only French company participating in the MovieLabs Industry Forum and relays its ontological vision of production data. Cédric leads the technical side of MedIAData, an experimentation project connecting researchers, students and industry players.
HOLLI takes part in the working groups of EBU, SMPTE and RIC IA.
That's where the name comes from: HOLLI, the holistic approach for Hollywood, with a touch of the joy and color of the Indian Holi festival…
